A New Series dedicated to the scales and techniques used in classic rock lead and improvisation.
VGL LEAD-1 Series*
I have received a number of requests over the months for DVD's that focus mainly just on leads. Therefore I have started what hopefully will become a 2nd series whose focus will be mainly just on lead. It will cover basic lead technique, scales, modes and also will select a few leads from various classic rock songs to show note for note in order to demonstrate the particular concept, scale or theory that is being covered. The original VGL series is all about learning complete songs, including the rhythm and main riffs with the leads being demo'd enough for more experienced players to be able to pick up but limiting time spent on leads in order to get as many songs as possible. Therefore this LEAD series is intended to fill in the gaps, and teach those interested in classic rock leads the material they need to be able to fully appreciate the leads that are shown in the normal VGL series. There is a good section in the CRASH COURSE on lead and beginning scales, so it along with the LEAD1 DVD is considered the first step in learning and improvising using CLASSIC ROCK LEAD TECHNIQUES!
Backing Tracks!: This DVD also includes some sample backing tracks of basic Drums/Bass parts as well separate mixes with Guitar & Lead parts so you have something to practice and play along with. I have included shareware MP3 player and plugins for sometime but obviously, do not provide the original songs (and as always, urge everyone to BUY them if they don't already own them). But sometimes all the vocals and other instruments can get 'in the way' of the guitar parts, so I have created backing tracks both as a stripped basic track and also with all the guitars and leads so you can choose which to play along with. By using a Guitar Synthesizer, Bass Lines are laid as well as sometimes instruments 'not' found in the original - but its intended as another tool to play with and once you learn the song playing along with the original recording is also a good idea.
Backing tracks for this DVD in .WAV and .MP3 format are found in the BONUS CD folder under \Backing Tracks and must be read using a PC with a DVD drive. (For those w/o PC DVD drives, a separate CD can be ordered by request.)
